Update: Recent Coaching Changes and Additions

Here is a recent update of the latest coaching changes from around the college scene.

  • Ex-Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin has join the New Mexico staff as the next quarterbacks coach. Also Darrell Dickey, the former North Texas coach, was hired as the Lobos' offensive coordinator.
  • Chuck Bullough was promoted from linebackers' coach to the defensive coordinator position at UCLA. Bullough succeeds DeWayne Walker who was hired as head coach at New Mexico State. The Bruins also hired former UCLA and Pittsburgh Steelers star Carnell Lake to coach the team's cornerbacks. The 41 year-old Lake was a three-year starter at UCLA before beginning his 12-year career in the NFL.
  • Aaron Roderick will return to Utah as the receivers coach a little more than a week after he left to go to Washington. Roderick cited personal reasons for deciding to return to the Utes.
  • The University of Miami (Fla.) is expected to announce Mark Whipple as the new offensive coordinator. Whipple, a member of the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff, cited an interest in calling plays in the college game. The official announcement should be coming this week.
  • Former Navy coach Gary Tranquill has been hired as Boston College's new offensive coordinator. Tranquill, who led Navy from 1982-1986, will replace Steve Logan, who resigned recently following the Jeff Jagodzinski firing.
